Five TUNEM Students Has Been Selected for IAEA Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme

Named after pioneer physicist and twice Nobel Prize laureate Marie Sklodowska-Curie, the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme (MSCFP) aims to inspire and encourage young women to pursue a career in the nuclear field, by providing highly motivated female students with scholarships for Master’s programmes and an opportunity to pursue an internship facilitated by the IAEA for up to 12 months, supporting an inclusive workforce of both men and women who contribute to and drive global scientific and technological innovation. Scholarships are awarded annually, with 150 female students selected per year.

Every year, China contributes 10 seats to MSCFP for international female students who pursue their master study in China. TUNEM is authorized to nominate its students to MSCFP. Five TUNEM students have been granted the MSCFP scholarship for 2022 application cycle.

Having been granted the Chinese Government Scholarship, TUNEM students who receive the MSCFP scholarship will not get extra financial support from the IAEA, but opportunities to pursue an internship facilitated by the IAEA for up to 12 months.

Bensu Unal

Bensu UnalI am an energy engineer and a master’s degree student in the TUNEM 2022 program at Tsinghua University. As a winner of the Marie Curie Fellowship Program, I am looking forward to deepening my studies in order to contribute to a carbon-free world with peaceful, safe, and secure uses of nuclear energy. I firmly believe it is a great opportunity to experience working at the International Atomic Energy Agency as an intern, and it will contribute a lot to my career development. Also, I am proud to be a part of the program that supports women’s empowerment and women in STEM.

Zeynep Sena Nas

Zeynep Sena NasThrough the provision of scholarships for Master's programs and the chance to participate in an internship program made possible by the IAEA, MSCFP seeks to enhance the number of women working in the nuclear industry. I'm incredibly pleased and honored to have been given this chance. In addition to wishing to see more women participate in the industry and advance the peaceful use of nuclear science, I am genuinely looking forward to supporting the IAEA's objective to promote the safe, secure, and peaceful applications of nuclear technologies.

Ayalew, Yordanos Shemeles

Ayalew, Yordanos ShemelesIt is really a great pleasure to receive the scholarship for IAEA MARIE SKLODOWSKA-CURIE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME which aims to inspire and encourage young women to pursue a career in the nuclear field. It is also a great encouragement to my study here in Tsinghua University. As my major is Energy and Power Engineering in the field of nuclear engineering, the fellowship program will help me to develop and acquire more knowledge regarding nuclear technology.

Zegeye, Alemitu Alemu

Zegeye, Alemitu AlemuI would like to say thank you for giving me this opportunity. The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Program (MSCFP), presented by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), aims to increase the number of women in the nuclear field and promote an inclusive workforce of both men and women who contribute to and drive global scientific and technological innovation. It is a great opportunity for me to study in the master’s program of Energy and Power Engineering (nuclear field), in 1-year internship program offered by MSCFP I will gain good practical knowledge and experience about nuclear science and I also plan to learn Ph.D. in the nuclear field.
