On November 9, 2020, started the two weeks professional internship of 26 students of TUNEM 2019 at China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). The Internship will be conducted both onsite and online because of the pandemic. The opening ceremony was arranged at China Zhongyuan Engineering Corporation (CZEC) headquarter, a subsidiary of CNNC. Mr. Ding Jiang (Vice President of CZEC), Ms. Zhang Zixiu (Director, Marketing Department of CZEC), Mr. Huang Yuliang (Deputy Director, Marketing Department of CZEC), Prof. Gao Zhe (Deputy Dean of Department of Engineering Physics, director of TUNEM) & Associate Prof. Yu Jiyang (Department of Engineering Physics, advisor of TUNEM2019), leaders of CZEC, staff from DEP participated the ceremony. Seven students attended the opening ceremony onsite while nineteen students joined online. Mr. Huang Yuliang from CZEC hosted the ceremony.
Mr. Ding Jian gave a warm welcome to all participants in the opening ceremony and briefly introduced about the activities to be carried out during the internship. In his speech he said, “So far, most of the TUNEM students have not returned to Tsinghua campus and can only learn and practice virtually. However, the University and the students have not lowered the academic requirements. With deliberate planning by the teachers and students of the Engineering Physics Department of Tsinghua University, the practice activities are able to be initiated today. On behalf of CNNC, I’d like to express my gratitude to all for the relentless efforts and dedication.” He also uttered the importance of TUNEM program and seamless cooperation among the Chinese government, Tsinghua University and Enterprises. He also told about the history of CNNC, its achievements and how it is leading the nuclear industry in China as well as in international market. At the end of his speech, he said, “I hope that the students will gain a lot from practice activities in CNNC. And I wish this practice a great success.”
On behalf of Tsinghua University, Prof. Gao Zhe expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the leaders and colleagues from CNNC who have been continuously supporting TUNEM program. CNNC is the leading corporation and acts as the mainstay in nuclear filed of China. He hope that the students could treasure this opportunity to learn and to gain more insight in following practices in CNNC.
All the TUNEM students also introduced themselves and showed their enthusiasm and commitment to complete the internship in time and to gain maximum technical and cultural knowledge.
Participants also visited the exhibition hall to learn about the history, major projects and achievements of CNNC. Participants also witnessed photos of milestones achieved by CNNC. Model of HPR-1000 plant was also explained in details which helped participants to get deep knowledge about this new technology.
