The Compressed Baryonic Matter (CBM) Experiment is one of main physics experiments that is being constructed at the Facility for Anti-proton and Ion Research (FAIR) at GSI, Darmstadt, Germany. The main goal of the CBM Experiment is to explore the Quantum Chromo Dynamics (QCD) phase diagram in the region of intermediate temperature and high net-baryon density. In order to achieve an unprecedented precision of particle identification, the CBM Experiment is planning to build a MRPC technology based Time-of-Flight (TOF) wall which is characterized by a 120marea and will be placed 10m away from the target. The CBM- TOF requires high detection efficiency above 90% and a good time resolution of better than 80ps at a particle flux of 20  kHz/cm2.


The group focused on the high rate requirement of future TOF systems. A special low resistive glass with bulk resistivity around 1010 Ω.cm is being developed. The rate capability of high rate MRPC can reach 70  kHz/cm2 and its time resolution can reach 40ps. These are the best results achieved anywhere in the world. Furthermore, the group provides important contributions to CBM on R&D and construction of the high rate TOF system.
